If you transfer in an external investment account to OneVest, you might be eligible for a refund of the associated transfer fees charged by your relinquishing institution.
What kind of fee might I be charged?
Most institutions charge a fee for partially or fully transferring out an investment account. For example, when transferring an account out of OneVest, your transfer out request is subject to our administrative charges typically ranging from $50 to $150.
We encourage you to review your institution’s fee schedule for more information on what fees you can expect to incur.
Refund Eligibility
If your OneVest profile is complete and in good standing, you may be eligible to receive a refund of up to $150, upon request, for transfers of registered accounts over $50,000 CAD. To be eligible for reimbursement, the accounts must remain funded with this amount for 90 days after transferring in.
OneVest will only reimburse you for administrative transfer fees related to the transfer. Depending on the type of transfer you’re completing, other fees may apply. We encourage you to review your relinquishing institutions’ fee schedule for more information on how these may apply.
Refund requests will only be processed once per registered account transfer. For example, multiple partial transfers may result in incurring fees above the limit of this program.
Each account that you transfer over will be separately eligible. For example, you can claim refunds for a TFSA, RRSP, and RESP separately.
Submitting your Refund Request
To submit a refund request:
- Complete your external transfer request from within the app.
- Ensure that your incoming account transfer request has already been completed and the funds are shown in your account. If you’re not sure, we can help confirm this for you.
- Submit a support ticket, include an account statement or equivalent documentation from your relinquishing institution that shows the fee incurred as a result of the transfer request, then click “Submit”.
