OneVest uses a combination of top-down (broad, macro-level) and bottom-up (specific, micro-level) investment strategies to construct your portfolio.
OneVest's top-down investment strategy is to determine your optimal asset allocation; which actually accounts for the majority of the variations in your portfolio return. Your portfolio may be diversified across a large number of asset classes, spanning both public and private markets.
Since some asset classes are riskier than others (i.e. stocks vs. bonds), it's important that we align your asset allocation with your risk tolerance, and then seek to maximize your returns for the amount of risk being taken.
OneVest's bottom-up investment strategy is in security selection, with the objective of investing in companies that are expected to outperform the broader market.
Where appropriate, OneVest will use active strategies to select the securities within an asset class. These strategies may include in-depth fundamental and quantitative research, as well as the use of leverage and short-selling where appropriate.
